Character Creation


Here it is a draft of Character Creation stages in SACPIC game mechanics.

Stage 1: SPECIES

Stage 2: RACE

Stage 3: GENDER

Stage 4: ALIGNMENT

Stage 5: STATS

Stage 6: SKILLS

Stage 7: FEATS

Stage 8: APPEARANCE

Stage 9: BACKGROUND

Beyond that, during the game you will be able to develop and customize your AUGMENTATION.

TL DR: Add a background or origin to the race/gender creation segment, allowing the player to start out as different characters in different parts of the world, to add depth.

I think when appealing to RPG fans, a good addition to this list would be a history of some kind. This has fallen out of style of late, but was (last) attempted in the first Dragon Age game where you chose an origin path to play as the 'tutorial mission'. Your actions in that mission set the groundwork for your story.

For the most part, this origin was based largely on your race, as that determined your birthplace and general habitat. Then, you'd select a background such as : rich, poor, military, etc.

On top of that, your decisions in that opening phase largely shaped how the world perceived you after the fact. If you started out wealthy but sacrificed your birthright to protect the common man, they'd remember that--and so would your parents. Lots of fun stuff to play with there, story wise.

Looks good, I'm glad that you put this in. Are there any variations that are possible in terms of Species or Race?

For the first game you need to be Pastager by the story line. But I think, it would be cool to tell different stories, to show different views by different races in future games.

Salut !

A small question about the menu of the character as well as the inventory (maybe it is the same?) the time stops during its use? If one set as example Fallout3, used PipBoy3000 stops immediately the game allowing to go out of certain galley certainly, but is not realistic.

Nope. But you can pause the game by pressing SPACE as it works in Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment or Neverwinter Nights.

In regard of the restart of Kickstarter campaign, there is a question about the prologue. For all races and species, it will be the same? Or in case of success you'll planning different prologues as one of the further goals of the campaign?
